Meet The Team

I started in financial services on 31st October 1987 – known as Black Monday, one of the worst crashes in decades! Not great timing to say the least, but whilst people where falling and scrambling out of financial services, I worked my way up from unit, to assistant to branch manager through the 90s, then in 2001 opened up my own mortgage brokerage firm.

My youngest son, Martin Green, joined the firm in 2006, and we have built a team that shares our values and desire to offer clients world class service since then.

Nowadays, I take a less active role in the business, but my wealth of experience is always available when needed for our advisers.

After studying English and History in Leeds, which as it turns out has been a remarkably relevant degree for financial services, I started in financial services in July 2006 when I moved back to Liverpool. I became compliance and office manager as well as a mortgage and insurance adviser in January 2008.

Coming in to the industry at the sharp end of the recession, just as my Dad did in the 80s, has instilled a work ethic and driven culture to ensure that I am always doing the absolute best I can for every client. The fundamental thing is making sure I put their needs first, which I’m immensely proud to say I retain to this day, and we have used as the cornerstone to build the business since I joined in 2006.

Having serviced over 3,000 clients all over the country, and worked as a consultant for local authorities, housing associations and new build schemes, this has given me a wealth of experience and allowed me to meet countless fantastic people and families which I’m incredibly grateful for. There is literally no better feeling than helping lovely people to realise and protect their dreams, which is why I absolutely love being in this industry.

I got married in 2016 to my wife who is half Malaysian, and shares my passion for travel and experiencing new cultures, so whenever possible, we like to try and get away for a weekend and discover somewhere new, though with the arrival of our first son in 2021, that feels a bit like a distant memory at the moment! More than happy up to my elbows in nappies than sat on a beach for now though!

I have over 30 years experience in the banking industry, starting at Barclays age 19 where I spent 11 years before a further three years at Lloyds bank.

The last 16 years I have been working as a fully CeMap qualified mortgage and protection adviser.

It has been a pleasure being part of the  Green mortgages team initially from 2007 -2009 then returning in 2013. My colleagues and I share the same ethos, to supply a second to none service for our clients and their families, guiding them through the whole house buying process, re-assuring them and addressing any concerns that they may have.

Outside of work, I have been with my fiancé, Anita,  for over 20 years and we have two football mad teenage boys, who unfortunately, like myself, are Everton season ticket holders!

My name is Jonathan Hulse and I have worked with J&M Green Mortgage Services Ltd since 2015. I truly enjoy my job and find it very rewarding helping clients with what is mostly the biggest financial decision they will make. Prior to this I had 14 years of experience in finance working in various departments for a large bank. I am married and have a lovely young daughter who keeps me busy during the few hours I am not in the office. In my spare time I enjoy cooking and running; I use the latter to offset the consequences of the former.

Paul Butler – I am a fully CeMAP qualified mortgage and insurance adviser with over twenty years financial services experience.  Having worked in various roles including underwriting, business development and advising I have built up a large bank of knowledge which enables me to give sound advice to my clients.

I have been part of J&M Green Mortgage Services since 2017 and chose to come and work here as we share the same values.  It is important to treat people in a fair and equitable way in order to give the very best advice.  This in turn enables them to make to right choices for themselves and their family.  I feel this way of doing business works as clients continue to come back and refer other friends and family to us.

Away from work much of my time is taken up with my six year old daughter who manages to be adorable, funny, messy and exhausting all at the same time. I also like to cook and fancy myself as a bit of a Gordon Ramsey, and my wife encourages this so she doesn’t have to cook.

I am the newest member of the band having joined J&M Green Mortgage Services in 2022 after 12 years in logistics with DHL Supply Chain as Operations Manager, a role which was predominantly in the frantic world of Jaguar Land Rover but also leading a ventilator distribution programme working with the NHS and Cabinet Office during Covid, Customer Services Manager and even as far as Brazil where I met my amazing wife Jaqueline.

I have always had a passion for property, and with a background of customer service and problem solving I am right at home in the Financial Services Industry. It’s truly the most rewarding job in the world to put someone in their dream home and will never tire of the gratitude and engagement we get from our clients. It’s not lost on us that we’re being entrusted with the most important purchase you’re likely to make which is why we reciprocate by always being available and approachable to every one of our clients and do our absolute utmost to maintain our high standards right across the firm, putting your needs first. We’re with you right the way through from initial property searching to picking up your keys.. and everything in between.

Most of my time outside of work is taken by my son Salvador who at 10 months is already kicking a ball, and a name like that and a mix of Brazilian and English blood I am hoping he will play for Real Madrid one day! But will settle for our beloved Liverpool.

My career started with Lloyds TSB back when the Abacus was still in use and the calculator was still to be invented by Sir Clive Sinclair.  I soon found that chatting to people and helping them with their financial needs was leading to queues in the banking hall and so I was moved from a cashier role to one more customer facing and the rest, as they say, is history. 

The financial journey continued with Abbey National where I qualified as an IFA but soon found that it was the mortgage and protection side of the role that appealed to me most.  Following a lengthy tenure with an IFA firm on the Wirral I met with Martin and felt that J&M Green had similar values to myself i.e. a very professional service driven process with the client at the heart of everything we do.  2 years ago I also studied for, and passed, the qualification for providing advice on Lifetime Mortgages.

My spare time is taking up with a love of old retro gaming consoles, Heavy Metal music, our caravan close to Bala in North Wales and motorbikes, although waiting for a new hip means I cant ride at the moment.

I have over 30 years of experience in Financial Services having begun my career with Royal London Insurance in 1990, where I progressed to Sales manager. Since then I have worked for several companies within the industry and I have had experience in several roles including Mortgage Broker, Compliance Manager and Company Director.

I have built up a wealth of experience over the years, helping hundreds of customers to move home, remortgage and purchase investment properties.

I have a strong belief in providing a quality service. In an ever-changing financial environment it is important to assure our clients receive the best financial advice for their different situations,
understanding their needs and objectives and finding the most suitable solutions.

Working with Martin and John and all the team at J&M Green Mortgages is a pleasure, as the company values professionalism and putting the client first.As a fully CeMap qualified Mortgage and Protection Adviser, I enjoy meeting people face to face to discuss their mortgage and protection needs, however, in recent times, because we all lead busy lives, it has become a necessity to work remotely whenever required.

Away from work I like to play guitar, I like to socialising with friends, dining out and pub-quizzes, I love to travel, especially to Malaga in Spain, which I consider my second home and I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren.
